Marc Reynolds and I do some wicked tricks
Golfers Magazine Article on some of the more difficult shots that I grew up with (written in Dutch).
I was born in 1973 in Basingstoke, Hampshire in the United Kingdom.
When I was eight years old I started having interest in golf. In 1985 I became a member of the Basingstoke Golf Club. My first handicap at the age of 13 was 34, with a lot of enthusiasm and practice, by the age of 15 my handicap was reduced to 3. With this handicap at that age I proved to be a promising golfer. My father however wanted me to concentrate on my education. This took up a lot of time, and unfortunately I couldn't practice as much as I would have liked so my handicap stayed around 3. After my engineering study of 4 years I still wanted to follow my dream in golf. I decided to follow the British PGA training program to become a professional golfer.
My professional career began at Calcot Park Golf club under the supervision of Albert MacKenzie. After four years of training I was a fully qualified PGA professional. I then looked for another challenge so I decided to move to Holland. After an interview with the owner of Golf Centrum Rotterdam, I became a team member of the teaching professionals.
In june 2000 I started as a business professional at the Rijswijkse GC. There I had the freedom to improve my teaching methods and to grow in the Dutch world of golf. After 7 years of hard work and dedication I was nominated number one coach of Holland, coaching several national players, European tour professional Robin Swane and the great success of Joost Luiten who is now a six time winner on the European
and Asian tour.
In 2008 I reached the level of advanced PGA professional. From 2010 to 2012 I was head professional at GC Wouwse Plantage in Bergen op Zoom. After this period the focus was more and more set to the bigger events such as the PGA Tour, European Tour, Olympics and the majors in golf. Today I still teach and coach talented players at Seve Rotterdam and The Dutch in Spijk. Besides that I travel the world to accompany and coach several tour players amongst whom Joost Luiten.
